Every year residents of Marquette and the surrounding area gather downtown to enjoy a spectacular fireworks display to celebrate the Fourth of July. While admission is free, donations are always gratefully accepted!

Fun Independence Day Facts

  • The 30th president of the United States, Calvin Coolidge, was born on July 4, 1872
  • Independence Day officially became a legal federal holiday in 1941
  • There is in fact something written on the back of the Declaration of Independence! Although not a treasure map, it’s unknown who wrote it or when it was written: “Original Declaration of Independence dated 4th July 1776.”
